to network?
Show time is go time and we ponder the benefits. Do exhibitions result in real new business or are they ongoing
networking opportunities? The City of Cape Town may be about to change advert-hindering bylaws; and the
introduction of localised domain names a plus on the marketing front.
W
ell Markex has come and gone again with the usual fanfare
layout for some, practical for others and some last minute stand
presentation decision-making for others. Year after year we see the same
old faces (exhibitors) and occasionally some fairly new ones. Obviously
these exhibitors wouldn’t continue paying premium for floor space if
there was no or little return.
This year there were some new companies and products, which was
very welcome. However, there were not enough of them to make
a marked difference to the show, and even fewer of them offering
something unique.
Now, the question arises, how much of the ‘return’ experienced by
exhibitors is a direct result of exhibiting, be it at Markex or any other
industry exposition? The reason for the question is simply, the ‘same old
faces’ we see year-after-year are not only those of the exhibitors, but the
majority of visitors too.
