Aimed at providing an improved health and wellness experience for all members , our Fitness Center is filled with a unique variety of people and purposes . With our state-of-the-art fitness and strength equipment , friendly personal trainers and an extensive array of group exercise and mind / body classes , our Fitness Center helps to motivate , inspire and keep members of all ages and fitness levels feeling their best .
Tai Chi for Beginners
Instructor : Cheri Maffei-Wolff Ages : 18 + 8-week session • Banks Gym
This series of classes will offer guidance through functional movements which benefit our physical , emotional , and spiritual wellbeing and train our overall balance and inner awareness . No experience necessary . Based on the 24-movement short form of Yang style Taiji ( Tai Chi ) as well as Qigong ( Chi-gong ) sequences for breath work and longevity . Dress comfortably with flat , flexible shoes .
Cheri Maffei-Wolff has trained in several Tai Chi forms and has successfully competed in National Tournaments with Open Hand forms and the partner practice of Push Hands . She subscribes to the practice of Tai Chi as an essential way to calm the mind and connect the body . Cheri has been teaching in Richmond for nearly 20 years .

Strength and Tone for Women
Instructor : Katie Brown Ages : 18 + 10-week session • Group Exercise Studio
Looking to tone up and trim down ? This lowimpact but high results 45-minute full body workout focuses on strength training and isometric movements . This class strengthens and fine tunes your main muscle groups and muscles you may not even know you have ! Slower paced moves with lighter weights to contract your muscles in a different way . Join this specialized class where you will get individual attention from Katie and learn the best way to move your specific body . Each move can be modified or amplified depending on your specific needs .
Katie Brown is a Certified Health Coach and Fitness Instructor with years of experience teaching and coaching individual growth in a group fitness environment .

Krav Maga
Instructor : Winning Warrior Krav Maga Staff Ages : 12 + 8-week session • Banks Gym
Krav Maga is a self-defense system developed for the Israel Defense Forces ( IDF ) to maximize your impact and minimize your risk in a self-defense situation . It combines practical techniques from various Martial Arts to defend on your feet or on the ground . In this 8-week class , students will experience firsthand their own power , strength , and resilience in a safe and disciplined atmosphere .
For nearly 25 years , Mark Winn has taught his students diligence , decisiveness and selfawareness , spelling the difference between going home safely and becoming a victim . Mark holds certifications and honors with the Federation of Israeli Martial Arts , Training for Warriors , and sports and nutrition associations such as NASM , ISSA and FMS .
