Tabata Style Workouts

For those wanting to Lose a Few Pounds , Get Ripped or just looking for better Performance and Health . These classes use the Tabata Style of training with modifications for a longer workout period . Usually 40 minutes with 10 minute warm up and 10 minute cool down and stretch . Tabata training falls under the High Intensity Interval Training principle . It incorporates 20 seconds of fairly intense exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest . One Tabata round is usually 8 sets lasting 4 minutes total .
Classes are formatted in 4 or 8 sets of 20 Seconds with rest periods of 10 Seconds in between sets . We do between 8 and 10 of these Tabata rounds . This is a fun high energy class with modifications for various fitness levels . Tabata , like any form of exercise , is not a magic solution for weight loss , getting ripped or increasing performance . Reaching your goals depends on a number of interconnected factors including genetics , stress management , sleep patterns , exercise and , most importantly , diet and nutrition . Tabata workouts will help you burn a relatively large amount of calories in a short amount of time depending on how hard you work , but no workout will allow you to reach your goals if you are not eating properly .
There are studies showing that Tabata workouts increase Metabolic Rates ( calorie burn ) for periods of time after completion and the assumption is you will burn more fat . Some of the experts out there are promoting Tabata and HIIT workouts to help reach definition goals for those wanting the “ Ripped ” look . To read more about Tabata studies just Google Dr . Izumi Tabata .
NOTE : Make sure Tabata workouts are appropriate for your fitness level . If you are just beginning to work out , haven ’ t worked out for a long time , or you have a health concern such as high blood pressure or diabetes . Please let the instructor know so he can suggest modifications to the exercises for you . If you want to know if Tabata is right for you please feel free to talk with me before attending Class .
