Event with Elliott Yamin
Join us for the Kick-off of our 5 Patrons of the
Arts season with Richmond native and American
Idol Season 5 Finalist – Elliott Yamin! This intimate
show will feature Elliott’s incomparable vocal talent
accompanied by a single guitar.

Elliott Yamin moved to Richmond, VA at 11 years
old from California where he was born. He grew
up just down the street from the Weinstein JCC. In
2006, he embarked on the adventure of a lifetime
as a contestant on Season 5 of American Idol.
He became famous for his exceptional R&B vocal
style and his relationship with his feisty and loving
mother, Claudette. Elliott has since released three
albums and traveled the world as a singer and
ambassador representing causes like Malaria No
More and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Virginia Opera Presents:
The Empress and the Nightengale
This adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s
classic, The Empress and the Nightengale, is a
children’s story of a small bird sharing her gift
of song. With a cast of three performing original
music, this opera vividly teaches the value of music
performed live and how humans cannot control
nature.
Virginia Opera is known and respected nationwide
for the identification and presentation of the finest
young artists, for the musical and dramatic integrity
of its productions, and for the ingenuity and variety
of its education and outreach programs.
