ELEMENTARY AGE SUNDAY Family Gardening in the Weinstein JCC Edible Schoolyard Families with Kids of all ages (no kids under 2 please) Spend part of your Sunday learning all about gardening and sustainability all while having a blast with the family. Join the Weinstein JCC’s gardening specialist, Amanda West, for family- friendly lessons in the Weinstein JCC’s Edible Schoolyard Children’s Garden. Bring a lunch and have a picnic followed by an hour of fun in our nature space. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Code: 15031 Sundays, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. September 7 - November 23 (12 weeks) $150 M / $185 NM (price per family) MONDAY Ceramics with Val Grades: K - 6 Instructor: Valerie Marousek This 8 Week course is designed for students who have an interest in working with clay. We will explore hand building with coils, slabs and pinch pot techniques. Students will create both functional works such as bowls, cups or vases and sculptural works such as ceramic animals and jewelry. Students will also explore finishing techniques with glaze and other materials, creating three-dimensional artworks utilizing color, form, pattern and texture. Let your child have a blast with learning about pottery. Juniors’ martial arts is geared toward improving fitness, confidence, and self-discipline while incorporating cardiovascular flexibility, and strength exercises into every class. Bricks 4 Kidz staff teach children principles of science, technology, engineering and architecture utilizing motorized LEGO models. Each lesson is unique and designed to engage your child’s mind. The 8-week session introduces models and concepts with a specific theme. Students love our interactive Bricks 4 Kidz models. This unit is all about the fun of doing something with what you’ve built.  From a spinning top to a spin art model, kids will love playing with their creations! But don’t worry; we sneak in lots of learning, too! We believe every child has different talents and strengths, and we strive to enhance each child’s individual physical capabilities through personal coaching in a group setting. The Dance Recital will be on May 17, 2015. For those students doing the whole year program, an additional recital fee of $65 is required.
