Foundation present an exciting evening of family fun
benefiting Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital
of Chicago. Enjoy activities, food, and face painting
from 5pm-7:30pm, live music by Tres Moustache
from 6pm-7:30pm, followed by the lantern parade
around Lake Ellyn from 7:15pm-8pm. Participants will
have an opportunity to create their own paper lantern
for the walk at the event ($10 fee, while supplies last;
decorations provided); otherwise bring your own
creation from home! Don’t know how to make one?
Register for one of our paper lantern workshops
below. Prizes awarded for most creative lanterns! Age: 6 & Up. Learn the game of Platform Tennis and how
to become involved in the program. Several of the area’s
top platform tennis professionals will be on hand to
provide instruction on grips, rules and strategies. Clinic
ends with a Pro Exhibition and open play from 8pm-
9pm. Free, but pre-registration is required. (ke)
WHAT IS A PAPER LANTERN & LANTERN KITS
Paper lanterns are decorated paper orbs on a stick,
illuminated with battery-operated LEDs (no candles).
The lanterns will be carried by participants around
the lake. Lantern kits will be available for advanced
purchase at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center
beginning July 19.
PAPER LANTERN WORKSHOPS
Held at Spring Avenue Recreation Center
Age: All. Instructors will guide you through the
creation of your very own paper lantern masterpiece.
We’ll provide everything you need to create a work
of art - and you get to take your lantern home at the
end of the workshop! Fee includes all materials.
