PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Where do plants get their energy? Plants make their own food. They use
water and minerals in the soil. The sun’s energy, also called solar energy,
is needed to make food. When
plants make food it is called
photosynthesis. Plants then
produce food that animals eat.
Where do minerals come from?
Minerals come from rocks. Rocks
are slowly worn down by heat,
cold, rain and snow. These tiny
rock parts form soil and contain
minerals. Water carries the
minerals from the soil into plants.
Animals get minerals from the
plants. Sometimes animals will
crave minerals like salt and lick
the rocks or soil for minerals.
