LIFE CYCLE
A group of the same type of animal in a habitat is
called a population. Most animals give birth to
more babies than can survive in an area.
Some of these young animals will move to a
new area when they can take care of them-
selves. Some of these animals will become
food for other animals. Overcrowding
occurs when too many animals stay in one
area. Disease and starvation can kill them.
All living things die. Death is a natural part of the
life cycle. Some of the causes for death are starvation,
weather, disease, pollution, accidents, hunting, old age
and becoming another animal’s prey (food).
