- karolina pliskova
Karolina Pliskova has achieved very little at Wimbledon since her first attempt in 2012, but the best could be yet to come.
The 25-year-old from the Czech Republic is yet to make it past the second round at SW19, but looks to have a grass court game fit to make her a Wimbledon champion in waiting.
A regular face at several of the Wimbledon warm-up events, including a runner-up effort at Eastbourne last season, she'll be looking to make this a Wimbledon to remember with Serena Williams on the sidelines.
It could prove to be her best chance at a Wimbledon title yet.
She has certainly made an impressive start to the majors in 2017, and this is already her becoming her best season to date.
After making the US Open final last season, she has followed up with a quarter-final exit in Australia and then made the semi's of the French at Roland Garros.
If that improvement continues then a first final appearance could be on the cards at the All England Club.
Something that her pre-tournament preparations suggest she is very keen on achieving.
The one to watch this fortnight for sure.
