long-term facility maintenance program , formerly known as alternative facilities , allows school boards to protect the taxpayer investment in facilities through replacement of aging building components . Funding through this program cannot be used for new facilities or components of facilities . The recommendations were approved on a unanimous vote .
Bridges and Pathways facility proposal update Greg Cole , chief operations officer , led a presentation outlining facility options for students who attend the Bridges and Pathways programs with the goal of creating greater efficiency and improved program quality . These programs are currently housed in non-school shopping center locations in Andover and Coon Rapids . The district aims to serve the 250 students who attend these special education programs in a single location starting in the fall of 2024 .
The School Board was presented with five options for program relocation . The School Board will continue to collect public feedback on this matter and is expected to take action later this year . Any enrollment changes would not take place before the 2023-24 school year .
FINANCE
FY23 proposed budget - all funds Michelle Vargas , chief financial officer , presented the proposed fiscal year 2023 budget for the Anoka-Hennepin School District . The district is projecting a revenue increase of $ 7.3 million , or 1.3 percent , for the next fiscal year and an additional 283 students . Expenditures are increasing by $ 19.5 million , or 5 percent , some of which comes from one-time federal COVID-19 relief funds . Transportation expenses , utilities and liability and property insurance rates are all on the rise , and strategic investments will be made using one-time federal funding in areas such as math and literacy coaches at the secondary level , textbook adoptions for science and English / language arts , synthetic turf practice fields at the five traditional high schools , long-term facilities maintenance , and the purchase / remodel of an early learning school facility in Blaine . The budget was approved on a 5-1 vote with Audette voting no .
GENERAL COUNSEL Tentative Agreement : Anoka-Hennepin Para Association Anjie Flowers , general counsel , presented a tentative agreement for the Anoka-Hennepin paraeducator association . The agreement covers the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years . The agreement is within the budget parameters provided by the school board and it was approved on a unanimous vote .
Interim Superientendent ’ s Contract Marci Anderson , board chair , introduced a contract that outlines the terms and conditions for interim superintendent Dr . Kate Maguire for the 2022-23 school year . Salary was set at $ 242,000 with a similar benefit package to the current superintendent ’ s contract and it was approved on a unanimous vote .
SUPERINTENDENT Cabinet members terms and conditions , first read Superintendent David Law introduced terms and conditions for members of the superintendent ’ s cabinet for consideration based on a request from the school board . The proposal recommended a new tier for cabinet members with increases in a 403b match and cafeteria benefits with the remaining terms and conditions remaining similar to district administrators . The board will consider approval at a future meeting .
