Coon Rapids High School Athena / AAA recognition Coon Rapids High School ’ s activities director , Curt Wallrath , recognized 2022 graduate Lilah Gilyard for her athletic and academic accomplishments during the 2021-22 school year . Gilyard was recognized as the Athena Award winner for Coon Rapids High School , and she won several all-conference honors , holds school records in cross country running , nordic skiing , and lacrosse , and was named the school ’ s honor athlete . She also received the school ’ s AAA Award for the 2021-22 school year for her excellence as a well-rounded student in athletics , academics , and the arts .
Andover High School State Track and Field Championship Andover High School ’ s boys track and field team was recognized for its accomplishments during the 2022 spring season . Andover High School ’ s principal , Tim Feine , and track coach Eric Johnson detailed the team ’ s accomplishments , including True Team section 4AAA champions , second place winners at the Northwest Suburban Conference meet , section 7AAA champions , and the first-time champions of the Minnesota State High School League AAA state meet , at which the team set six school records .
Destination Imagination Global Finals Lynn Montgomery , Destination Imagination ( DI ) coordinator for teams in the Anoka-Hennepin School District , presented achievements with this program in 2022 . Montgomery said 150,000 K-12 students from around the world work on one of six challenges in teams of seven students . The top one percent are invited to global finals . Out of 14 Minnesota teams , seven of them represented Anoka-Hennepin Schools . Montgomery said the teams typically strive to be scored among the top 50 teams at Global Finals , but this year five of the seven teams scored in the top 10 . The teams include : Oxbow Creek Elementary School , which was new to DI this school year and placed 22nd at Global Finals in an engineering challenge ; Rum River Elementary School ’ s two teams , which placed 25th in an engineering challenge and seventh in an improvisation challenge ; Madison Elementary School , which placed ninth in an engineering challenge ; Northdale Middle School ’ s two teams , which placed ninth in a community service challenge and eighth in a technical vehicle-building challenge ; and Blaine High School , which placed eighth in a fine arts challenge .
District receives five national awards for communications Anoka-Hennepin was recognized with five awards from the National School Public Relations Association - or NSPRA - a professional organization for public and private school districts across the country . Anoka-Hennepin was named a 2022 Golden Achievement Award winner for its communication plan and execution of its Referendum 2021 campaign . The Golden Achievement Award recognizes exemplary work in all aspects of school public relations , communication , marketing and engagement . Anoka-Hennepin also earned three Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards and one Merit Award for various digital campaigns . NSPRA recognized the district ’ s Parent Engage 360 Podcast , the “ No Limits ” back-to-school video , and the 2021 high school graduation video series for excellence , and the “ Kindness Poster Contest ” video with an award of merit .
