District kindness poster contest
Ten students were selected as winners in the district-wide kindness poster contest. Grade
level winners were named K-8 and one high school level winning entry was selected.
Horace Mann company served as a sponsor and donated a Kindle device as a prize for all

Andover High School
Andover High School junior Grace Beckman was recognized for being named president
– elect of Minnesota HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), a career and technical student organization that supports leadership development, skills and knowledge for
students interested in all health occupations.
Andover High School junior Bella Smits was recognized for her first place finish in the 100
freestyle and second place finish in the 50 freestyle at the state swim and dive meet.
Coon Rapids Middle School
Coon Rapids Middle School Principal Tom Shaw introduced Owen Sanders, grade seven,
who was recently named to the state honors choir through the American Choral Directors
Association of Minnesota.
Blaine High School
Blaine High School junior Amera Hassan was honored for her selection as the Minnesota
representative to the national Jefferson Awards “Think Big” team, one of 23 total students
in the nation to receive this honor.
Blaine High School senior Ann Jerry was recognized for achieving National Merit Semifinalist status in the National Merit Scholarship competition.
Champlin Park High School
Champlin Park High School’s volleyball team was recognized for their third place finish
in the Minnesota State High School League state tournament. Team members are: Jenae
Alderson, Whitney Anderson, Hanna Crymble, Lauren Roll, Maria Clafin, Sydney Hilley,
Allie Miller, Maria Vattendahl Vidal, Bryanna Goar, Izzy Ashburn, Emma Schmidt, Kaitlyn
Weimerskirch and managers Brooke Tentis, Morgan Sewell, and Gracie Ellingson. Coaches:
John Yunker, Amy Fonoti and Rebecca Zenefski.
