Truth in taxation public hearing

School Board Chair Tom Heidemann opened the annual Truth in Taxation public hearing and welcomed Michelle Vargas, chief financial officer, to provide an overview of the
district’s financial position and how proposed taxes for 2016 would impact property owners. All district property owners were mailed a notice of proposed taxes and invited to the
hearing. Vargas explained the proposed levy amounts in multiple categories and noted that
overall spending would increase by .2 percent, or $184,117. The total amount levied exceeds
$92 million. The public hearing generated no public comments.
