AndHS students were also recognized for excellence in the 2017 State Fair Graphic Design / Photography competition. Broduer presented Alison Meyer and Lauren Robbins, who both collected second place in the competition.
Blaine High School Theatre
Blaine High School( BHS) theatre and their performance of“ Shrek, the Musical” was recognized by Hennepin Theatre Trust with their Spotlight Award, recognitions given in honor of excellence in high school theatre. Honored students include actors Erebi Nyenkan, Beth Vescio, Jackson Peterson, Kaylee Clausen, Madison Schmitt, James Reichow, Joe Bensing, Sadhika Prabh, and Bria Teasley. BHS also collected honors for tech crew, those honored students include Gabby Justen, Zach Morse, Ella Halpern, Maya Kroska, Darla Eckart, Callie Anderson, Andrea Johnson, Helenrose Jorgensen, Luke Reilly, and Jack Strub. Cynthia Hess, BHS theatre director, presented the students for recognition and mentioned this marks the first time that BHS has collected the tech crew awards.

Reading Wonders update
Mary Wolverton, associate superintendent for elementary education, led a team presentation and update for School Board consideration regarding the Reading Wonders curriculum, a system put in place at the elementary level to improve literacy for students kindergarten through fifth grade. Ranae Case Evenson, elementary director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, Kari Rock, director of elementary schools, Deb Day, elementary English language arts teacher / curriculum support, and Nicole Sutton, elementary English language arts teacher / curriculum support, assisted in the presentation.
Fit for the Future Referendum update
Jim Skelly, director of communication and public relations, and Kay Villella, assistant director of communication and public relations, provided an overview of communication activities for the Fit for the Future referendum. Information was provided regarding voting information and where to get additional details.

Approval of master agreement technical specialists
Paul Cady, general counsel, presented a contract for district technical specialists for 2017-19. Cady explained that the agreement was within the financial parameters provided by the School Board and it was approved on a unanimous vote.

Paul Cady, general counsel, presented the working agreement with Anoka-Hennepin Education Minnesota for 2017-19. Cady explained that the agreement was within the financial parameters provided by the School Board and it was approved on 4-1 vote with Director Fields voting no and Director Simon abstaining in compliance with state law.
