Anoka-Hennepin students were recognized for outstanding finishes in the Minnesota adapted bowling state
tournament held in May at the Brunswick Zone in Brooklyn Park.
Peter Bassett, eighth-grade and now attending Anoka High School, was recognized for a second place finish.
Andover High School sophomore Alby Zmuda received recognition for her third-place finish. The School Board
extended appreciation and recognition to advisors Jody Wahl, Moriah Weir and Sue Opat.
Blaine High School
Jason Paske, interim principal at Blaine High School (BHS), and teacher Holly Boisjolie, introduced eleven
students — all sophomores — with top finishes at the Internet, Science and Technology Fair (ISTF) held at the
University of Central Florida in June. ISTF provides students with information technology tools to discover and
explore the future of science and engineering while developing science inquiry, communication, information
management and presentation skills.
BHS students Falagbenne “Mike” Kombate, Evan Ward, and Kristina Zacrep were recognized at the Meritorious Achievement level. Honorable mention awards were recognized for Abi Chiaokhiao, Annelies Bosley, Chloe
Champagne, Ethan Zmuda, Emmual Mensah, Madeline Konen, Lucas Becker and Sadhika Prabhu.
School Board recognition was also extended to BHS sophomores Reese Kneeland and Alexander Xayasounethone who collected top finishes in the STEM FUSE “Got Game” Video Game Design Competition. The contest is
open to high school students across the nation and it honors top achievement in the creation of video games.
Kneeland’s entry “Extreme Type Racer” was named top entry, and Xayasounethone’s entry, “USB Ninja,” collected third-place honors. Review their work and other submissions in the competition at this link: http://arcade.stemfuse.com/got-game.
Coon Rapids High School
The School Board recognized 11 Coon Rapids High School (CRHS) industrial technology students for placing
first, second, or third in competition held at the Minnesota State Fair.
CRHS junior Dylan Bangert collected a second-place finish in the woodworking category and a $300 scholarship from the Minnesota Technology and Engineering Educators Association for a wood desk he created from
recycled pallets. Senior Anak Shar took second in the photography division joining juniors Trent Bosak and
