Erik Paulson, third district congressman. Junior Aunika Lewis earned the grand prize at the competition and senior Andrew York earned second place. As a result of the grand prize designation, the art created by Lewis will be on display in the United States Capitol for one year. Suzanne Hughes is the students’ art teacher at CRHS. Coon Rapids High School DECA Advisor recognized Dr. Annette Ziegler, principal of Coon Rapids High School (CRHS), presented CRHS DECA Advisor Blake Boden- burg for his work with students and the program, and for being awarded the 2018 Minnesota Secondary DECA outstanding DECA Advisor status. Coon Rapids High School students are state winners with Operation Lifesaver Blake Bodenburg, Coon Rapids High School DECA advisor, announced that senior Thomas Rupert is a state winner for his poster design, and seniors Caleb Ness, Jack Novinksa and Ricky Soto received first place status for their commercial video design, in the Operation Lifesavers Design Contest. Coon Rapids High School DECA honors and awards Blake Bodenburg, Coon Rapids High School DECA advisor, presented 14 students for their outstanding achieve- ment at various DECA conferences and competitions. Seniors Thomas Rupert and Jeffrey Smith received outstanding Minnesota marketing student status and Julia Beczkalo won the MN DECA speakers bureau award. Junior Ellen Leciejewski received a gold chapter project at the international conference and Ryan Kemp received a chapter community service campaign award at the international conference. Sophomore Brynn Nguy- en received a gold chapter project award and competitor award at the international conference, first place for MN DECA in professional selling, and MN DECA speakers bureau award. Sophomore Sara Abbas was awarded for international conference competition and a second place finish in MN DECA, while fellow sophomores, Rylee Turner and Megan Cosman along with freshman Salam Hijazi were awarded for excellence at the international conference. Oxbow Creek Elementary students earn invite by National Math League Rolf Carlsen, principal of Oxbow Creek Elementary School, and Kate Nightengale, Math League Coordinator, announced fourth-grade student Lucas Vetter and fifth-grade student Jared Talso, earned National Math League Invitations due to excellent performance in mathematics. The National Math League aims to build interest and student excellence in mathematics. 1
