Meeting Date: May 26, 2015 Board Chair Tom Heidemann ACTION of the School School District Board Anoka-Hennepin Recognition The School board recognized the following students and staff: Destination Imagination teams Vice Chair Marci Anderson • Lynn Montgomery, Anoka-Hennepin’s Destination Imagination program director recognized the district-record six teams that went to the Global Finals held at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn. The teams were: The Monroe Mustaches from Monroe Elementary School; Jamacerggers from Franklin Elementary School; The 4 Ninja Sisters from Lincoln Elementary School for the Arts; The 1, 2, 3… 7 Super Zonkeys from Johnsville Elementary School; The DIYs from BHS; and Top Secret, also from BHS. Adapted bowling — CI division Treasurer Bill Harvey • Blaine High School (BHS) seniors Elena Chamberlain and Brock Shepard won first place in doubles in the CI Division at the 2015 State Adapted Bowling tournament. • BHS freshman Nathan Spano and Andover High School freshman Chase Brandt won second place in doubles in the CI Division at the 2015 State Adapted Bowling tournament. Roosevelt Middle School Clerk Jeff Simon Director William Fields Director Nicole Hayes • Eighth grader Caleb Van Arragon finished in the top 5 percent at the St. Cloud Math Contest. • Eighth graders Benjamin Greenberg, Alexander Hilde, Kole Koolmo, Josh Pagano, Kelsey Theisen and Andy Vanyo finished in the top 10 percent at the St. Cloud Math Contest. Blaine High School • Principal John Phelps has been named Central Minnesota National Speech and Debate Association Principal of the Year. • Freshmen Sara Ho, Sophia Kassela, Hana Tadesse and Pachia Xiong, and sophomores Dylan Kassela and Amera Hassan earned second place overall, and a gold level rating at the Jefferson Awards Students in Action state competition. • Freshmen Josiah Gould and Trent Williams, and sophomore Emma Butzer ranked in the top 10 percent at the St. Cloud State math competition. Junior Alex Vanyo ranked in the top 5 percent at the competition. • Junior Marissa Bullis and senior Jade Carney were named to the All-State Orchestra. • Junior Ann Jerry and senior Collin Gilmore were named to the All-State Band. • Seniors Jordan Schwartz, Melvan Washington, Josiah Woods and Ben Zeipelt were named to the All-State Choir. • Juniors Michaela Martin, Adam Guenther, Kalya Olsen, Matt Pappas and seniors Dureeti Gaga, Travis Johnson, Alex Vang, Xaitheng Yang, Matalie McGrath, Mazen Hammad, Rachel Keinholz and Max Schwinghammer were named BPA National Leadership Conference qualifiers. Northdale Middle School ANOKA-HENNEPIN SCHOOLS A future without limit • Seventh graders Ryan Loomis and Nathan Rode finished in the top 5 percent at the St. Cloud Math Contest. • Eighth grader Jonathan Koenmig finished in the top 10 percent at the St. Cloud Math Contest.
