Resolution to rescind the inclusion of certain teachers’ names in resolution terminating probationary teachers. The School Board reviewed terms and conditions of the resolution and approved the resolution on a unanimous vote. Community and government relations 2019 population certification Al Ickler, executive director for community and government relations, presented the School Board with the 2019 Resolution of Population Certification: The current population of 245,575 for the Anoka-Hennepin School District is based upon the State of Minnesota Demographer’s estimate. The item was approved on a unanimous vote. Elementary and secondary education Middle school health materials purchase Cory McIntyre, associate superintendent for middle schools and student services, along with Kim Pavlovich, secondary director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, Tracy Ward, secondary TaLS at the Educational Service Center, and Heather Stottler, health teacher at Roosevelt Middle School, presented a recommendation to purchase new middle school health materials due to the current materials being outdated, containing inaccurate content and inconsistent across middle schools within the district. After receiving parent and student survey data and input, and a study committee met to extensively review materials, it was recommended to the board to purchase Goodheart Willcox Essential Health Skills for Middle School to be implemented during the 2019-20 school year. The board will consider approval at a future meeting. Labor relations and benefits 2019-20 District calendar ammendment Nicole Tuescher, executive director of human resources, along with Todd Mensink, director of labor relations and benefits, and Val Holthus, president of Anoka-Hennepin Education Minnesota, presented a proposed ammendment for the 2019- 20 school year. The recommendation creates a non-student contact day on Tuesday, March 3, which is the date of the Presidential Primary Election and switches a staff development day from Monday, March 23, a day that student will now attend school as the School Board approved the recommendation on a unanimous vote. 2020-21 District calendar, first reading Nicole Tuescher, executive director of human resources, along with Todd Mensink, director of labor relations and benefits, and Val Holthus, president of Anoka-Hennepin Education Minnesota, presented a proposed calendar for the 2020-21 school year. Development of the proposed calendar was coordinated through a committee of district staff representing various labor groups and school and district administrators. Approval of the calendar is anticipated at an upcoming School Board meeting. Finance FY20 proposed budget Michelle Vargas, chief financial officer, provided the 2019-20 budget, a detailed report on revenue and expenditures and factors that influence them for next school year. The presentation included information from the recent legislative session and will be updated and approved by the School Board once the final bill is signed into law by the Governor. The School Board will consider approval of the budget at their June 24, 2019 meeting. General Counsel Education Minnesota Anoka-Hennepin Education Support Professionals 2018-2021 agreement Paul Cady, general counsel for the district requested approval by the School Board of the agreement for Education Minnesota, Anoka-Hennepin Education Support Professionals 2018-2021.
