Michelle Trelstad, director of Community Education (CE), along with Jane Hanson, CE youth service coordinator, recognized five Champlin Park High School (CPHS) students for being named regional winners of the Multiplying Good, Students in Action (SIA) program: Junior Grace Bassekle; sophomores Will Asinger, Megha Verghese and Vanessa Vaudrey; freshman Clair Koch. SIA promotes and develops high school students through their work in leadership, engagement and impact within their schools, and their communities. The students will be advancing to the national finals, in Washington D.C. Minnesota School Bus Safety Poster Contest Keith Paulson, director of transportation introduced Jeff Mueller, transportation safety coordinator who announced students at each level across the district that won first place in the 2019 Minnesota School Bus Safety contest. Kindergarten: Gael Pons Somasoundirapil, Johnsville Elementary School. First grade: Alayna Gillette, Madison Elementary School. Second grade: River Thomsen, Rum River Elementary School. Third grade: Judah Stein, Oxbow Creek Elementary School. Fourth grade: Jada Chen, Johnsville Elementary School. Fifth grade: Lucia Rote, Oxbow Creek Elementary School. Sixth grade: Serenity Hall, Coon Rapids Middle School. Seventh grade: Noah Vetter, Jackson Middle School - A Specialty School for Math and Science. Eighth grade: Hailey Stone, Oak View Middle School. High school, grades 9-12: Hailey Peterson, Anoka High School. High achievement in the poster contest is consistent with Anoka- Hennepin’s strong commitment to ensuring safety for all students who depend on the district’s transportation system each day. Communications, delegations and petitions The School Board received testimony from Sarah LeNoue, Kendra Zeman, Jayme Fanucci, and Terry Protivinsky. Employee services The School Board took actions regarding employees and positions in the district in relation to a reporting timeline needed to comply with contracts and state requirements. Sarah Kriewall, director of employee services, presented items for approval and one item for information only. Resolutions were approved with a unanimous vote. Resolution discontinuing and reducing educational programs and positions The School Board approved the resolution to direct administration to reduce 57 positions based on enrollment and other factors. The action is considered a routine matter conducted annually. Resolution relating to the termination and non-renewal of teaching contracts of probationary teachers The School Board approved the resolution in compliance with Minnesota Statute 122A.40, sub. 5. The action is considered a routine matter conducted annually. For information only: long-term substitute teachers, intern teachers, re-employed retired teachers. The board reviewed a listing of employees whose contracts with the district are due to expire at the end of the school year. 1
