finished in second-place in individual competition and Jeremy Rodman and Jesse Heifort both finished third. This is trip number 19 to the state tournament team in the history of Anoka wrestling. In addition to the athletes, head coach Todd Springer was named 3AA State Coach of the Year in addition to Section Coach of the Year. Assistant coach Doug Paulson was named Section Assistant Coach of the Year. Magnet Schools of America - Magnet Schools of Distinction Mary Wolverton, associate superintendent for elementary schools, introduced principals and teacher leaders from three Anoka-Hennepin schools recently named as Magnet Schools of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America. She noted that of the six schools in Minnesota to receive this recognition, three are located in Anoka-Hennepin. Honored schools include Lincoln Elementary School for the Arts in Anoka, University Avenue Elementary-Aerospace, Children’s Engineering and Science in Blaine and Champlin Brooklyn Park Academy for Math and Environmental Science. Representing Lincoln Elementary were Michelle Zimmerman, principal, Diane Aldis, curriculum integrator, Kathy Gornick, grade 1 teacher, Baiying Wu, English language teacher, Sue Mitchell, grade 1 teacher, Jan Flavion, inquiry teacher and Lisa Grabau, active parent volunteer. University Avenue Elementary was represented by Diedre Bloemers, administrative intern and Kate Watson, curriculum integration coordinator. Champlin Brooklyn Park Academy presenters included Brian Mann, principal, Kim Nelson, assistant principal, and teachers Kristin Fritschel and Kristen Wegner. Elementary and secondary education AHEM Q Comp Vote Members of Anoka-Hennepin Education Minnesota (AHEM) must support the district’s approved Quality Compensation (Q Comp) program in a vote supported by a minimum 75 percent. LeMoyne Corgard, AHEM president and Todd Mensink, Q Comp coordinator presented results of a recent ballot showing 97.9 percent approval with 1,759, or 63 percent participation in the election. The five components under Minnesot a’s Q Comp plan includes career ladder/advancement options, job-embedded professional development, teacher evaluation, performance pay, and an alternative salary schedule. Employee services The School Board approved a series of resolutions and accepted a report on employee matters consistent with Minnesota law and past School Board procedures. Resolution discontinuing and reduction educational programs and positions Sara Kriewall, director of employee services, introduced a resolution discontinuing educational programs and positions, a formal document to finalize past board discussions. The resolution was approved on a unanimous vote.
