"Suicide Room” was the film presented

during April 2017 activities in

connection with Action! Project.

This film is of Polish production

and classified as a psychological drama.

The premiere took place in February

2011 in Berlin at the International Film

Festival.

The film tells the story of a sensitive

teenager called Dominik. He is brought

up in a rich family but his parents are

mainly concerned with their jobs and

careers. That is why the boy generally

feels lost and lonely lacking true

parental love and attention.

Things get worse when his classmates

suspect him of being homosexual and start making fun of him in the Internet. As a result of it Dominik drops out of school. Since he does not receive support from his parents, he becomes even more depressed. Seeking any help and understanding Dominik meets Sylwia on some site.

The girl is fascinated with death and self-harming. The two become close to each other. The virtual reality of a game called Suicide Room becomes an escape from the main protagonist`s loneliness and problems.

Unfortunately the relation with Sylwia turns out to be a mistake. Dominik thoroughly isolated commits suicide. Ironically, the boy`s death in a public place is treated as a sort of a show. Teenagers record the moment of his death and immediately upload the film… After Dominik`s death his mother enters the game and thanks to her son`s virtual friends she starts to understand her child and realize how deeply she hurt him depriving the boy of her love and care.
