Tell us a little about yourself? I am a native Floridian. I have a strong faith in God and desire to follow His will for my life. I have been married for 32 years to a wonderful man and we have been blessed with three awesome children and 6 grandchildren. I have worked at Leesburg Regional Medical Center/The Villages Regional Hospital for 29 years and have been a volunteer and/or fund raiser for ACS for over 20 years. I have a BSN and MBA both of which have helped greatly in my professional career.

Why do you volunteer with the American Cancer

Society? As a nurse I have always been passionate about improving the health

and quality of life of the patients I cared for and my community. When I learned over 20 years ago just how close the ACS mission was to my personal life mission it made joining as a volunteer a perfect fit.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I love to spend time with my family and out on the water, any type…….pool, lake, ocean, I especially love to snorkel.

Where is the furthest place you have ever traveled? Canada to the North, Caribbean to the South and Utah to the West.

Where is somewhere you would love to travel but haven’t yet? Europe

If you could be anything else, what would it be? Teacher

What’s your favorite color? Peach

What’s your favorite book? The Bible

UF or FSU? UF of the options however I am a UCF grad Go Knights!

What is your biggest pet peeve? Dishonesty

What is a bad habit you wish you could break? Excessive coffee drinking.

WHO IS Phyllis Baum?...

We thought it would be great for us to find out more about each of our VLC members and what better way, than to play "20 Questions," or in this case 12 questions?!

Phyllis Baum serves as the System VP/Chief Quality Officer and Patient Safety Officer for the Central Florida Health Alliance and is also the Vice Chairperson for the Mid-Central Florida VLC, as well as a member of the ACS Florida Division Operating Board. We asked Phyllis a few questions so that we could get to know her a little bit better. Here's what we learned...
