We sat down and gaze at the menu where I notice they have a tremendous beer list which include some of my favorite local craft beers. I ordered Revolver’s Blood and Honey and follow it with Peticolas’ Velvet Hammer. They have tons of our local favorite craft beers like Rhar and Sons’ Iron Thistle and Real Ales Fireman #4 and even a few from breweries outside the lone star state. The other glorified drink option, in my opinion, is the local Whiskey option. You often don’t find restaurant or even bars that carry stuff outside of the “bar norm”. Don’t get me wrong you can get your average Crown Royal or Jack Daniels but they take it a two-step further. Born and breed in Texas like many of us, Firestone and Robertson TX Blended Whiskey is made right here in Ft. Worth. I love it because every sip goes down and smooth and warms you up like the Texas sun.... good mood enhancer. And I had a few because it was my birthday of course. After a few drinks and a game of Ring the Bull we decided we need food substance. We browse the menu that consists of 3 salads, burgers and over twenty off the wall, crazy good burgers. My order sounded something like this: “Can I get a Whiskey Pick and a Fainting Goat to start and for dinner a Whiskey Burger with a Steaming Pile and some Goat Balls for dessert.” What I got in Rodeo Goat talk was a shot of Jameson with pickle juice (Whiskey Pick) and a Blood and Honey meets screwdriver concoction (Fainting Goat). The Whiskey Burger, which is simple but packed with all kinds of flavor, consists of Irish whiskey cheddar, bourbon candied bacon, blackberry compote and and whole grain mustard. They use their perfectly portioned beef and fresh buns to bring my favorite burger together. The Steaming Pile is a jalapeño tater tot based delicacy topped with bacon bits, fried egg, goat and cheddar cheese it is then softly finished off with truffle oil. It mimics others but I believe it is on a completely different level, very good choice to accompany the burger. Dessert is not generally a must have for me but it was my birthday so the friends ordered some Goat Balls....sounds appetizing right? It is inspired by the familiar donut hole with brie inside, powdered sugar and a bright berry compote. For what they are they tasted sinfully delightful, a great end to dinner. For my fellow ADR readers, I highly recommend you make it a point to get to Rodeo Goat, meet some friends, have some drinks and finish off with one of their wicked and exclusive burgers. If you have some friends or family visiting from out of town and they want to get that “full Texas feel” put this on the itenarary, it will make for a great night of food and fun! Acoustic Drive | 25
