Rodeo Goat Written by: Brooklyn Graves This past birthday my friends, who know I am a sucker for a good burger, decided to take me to this little hidden gem off of West 7th, called Rodeo Goat Icehouse. It isn’t a brand new establishment, they have been around for a few years now, which has had me wondering; why have I never heard of it before? What is this place? So, when the time came I excitingly wandered in and immediately became a fan. Prior to my arrival I checked out the website, which did this burger joint no favors. I figure if the burgers are as bland as the website this birthday may be a drink only affair.....but boy was I wrong. Tucked away off of W.7th, zigging and zagging down the side streets, you will easily pass up this place if your gps is not working. Located on the corner of Bledsoe and Currie, Rodeo Goat has an industrial 24 | Acoustic Drive yet reformed look about it. It has that new age, countrified feel....the kind I love; A new aged general store if you will. The West 7th Street area blesses foodies like myself with some extremely unique, fresh and fun food options, which is why Rodeo Goat is a perfect fit. Rodeo Goat’s back story is a grand one for Fort Worthians, because the founder of Flying Saucer is a partner in this burger mecca. Shannon Wynne had been down to Austin, checked out a few hot spots and gathered ideas to bring together his new concept. So he hired Chef Keith Grober to start experimenting with beef and once they got that down....they just started putting together all sorts of mouth-watering ingredients such as a beef and chorizo buger topped with avacado, pico de gallo and a fried egg. The Caca Oaxaca burger is among many of the popular burgers the chef has created. So as my friends and I arrived we made our way outside back to the large, well put together patio. They have long picnic style tables that can be pushed and pulled to the customers satisfaction. Seeing as we had a party of approximately twenty we took advantage of this and made a large length table for the party. Among the tables and plenty of heads that filled their seats you will find a sand bottom floor, Christmas type lights strung about along with one of my favorite country games where you put a washer on a string and swing it six feet towards a small hook nailed on a board (known to me as Ring the Bull). Being the country girl I am I knew exactly what to do, however I am not quite sure the city folk have any clue that it is a game, you can gamble drinks with your friends and engage in lovely outdoor drinking fun.
