With the anticipated publication of the LCRR , the lead inventory itself and the assumptions used to build the inventory could look quite different among water systems . This session will consider the policy implications inherent in a lead inventory and what it means for how the inventory is used to reduce the exposure to lead from drinking water . As water systems build their inventories , the assumptions that trigger policy decisions are not always obvious . The discussion will be valuable to utilities and regulators as they build , approve , and evaluate the lead inventory developed in their water systems .

This session gives examples of how others have been protecting public health by employing both treatment and nontreatment barriers and demonstrating testing results associated with pathogen removal , quantification of risk , and employing buffers to attain regulatory approval for a project . Attendees will also learn about the proposed 12 steps necessary to understand the broad level of effort needed to safely implement potable reuse projects .
