Digital Innovation and Strategy ( VS3 _ 11 )
Track : Utility Resilience | 11:00 – 11:45 a . m .
How are utilities moving forward during the events of 2020 ? Hear how utilities are leveraging technology to engage customers and using sophisticated tools for organizational effectiveness that help them reach their planning goals .
Advancements in Watermain Rehabilitation ( VS3 _ 12 )
Track : 21st Century Infrastructure | 11:00 – 11:45 a . m .
This session provides the owners and contractors perspective for developing and performing successful water main rehabilitation programs and projects .
Beyond the Meter - Building Water Quality Poster Session ( VS3 _ 13 )
Track : Water Quality : Challenges and Research | 11:00 a . m . – 12:00 p . m .
Utilities , health and policy professionals , and regulators nationwide are seeking to predict drinking water quality at the tap , how to safely and quickly decontaminate building plumbing , and identify new approaches and technological innovations . There is also a desire to understand the relationships between utility distribution systems and building plumbing . This is a critical need and emerging frontier at the nexus of science – engineering – policy . This poster session is designed to not only showcase key projects and research from universities , consulting firms , utilities , government agencies , and others , but also provide a forum for cross-collaboration , as well as insightful analysis and innovations about plumbing technology and safety .
Implementing Advanced Treatment for Water Reuse ( VS3 _ 14 )
Track : Sustainable Water Resources | 11:00 a . m . – 12:00 p . m .
As water supplies become more challenged and wastewater discharge options are limited , utilities are considering water reuse as an integrated approach to ensuring long-term water management . Advanced treatment technologies are critical in providing a multibarrier approach for reuse systems . This session considers the selection , performance , and operations of advanced treatment processes within reuse applications .
Seismic Design & Resilience ( VS3 _ 16 )
Track : Utility Resilience | 11:00 a . m . – 12:00 p . m .
California water systems share decades of experience with comprehensive seismic resilience planning , including recent updates .
Affordable Water Treatment for Smaller Systems ( VS3 _ 24 )
Track : Water Quality : Challenges and Research | 11:00 a . m . – 12:00 p . m .
Small public water systems are often faced with bringing impaired water sources to drinking water standards . Available water sources and financial resources are limited , which limits available mitigation strategies . This session provides three examples of how utilities found cost effective measures for groundwater treatment of contaminants including iron , radium , ammonia , manganese , and arsenic .
