Spotlight on PFAS
1:30–4:30 p.m.
Room: Mile High Ballroom 4D
Track: Water Quality Challenges
Moderator: Kenan Ozekin
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are among the
most significant and potentially toxic emerging contaminants
in a generation, with not only widespread occurrence, but also
strong persistence in both the environment and in the human
body. The challenge of PFAS is compounded in water supplies,
as these contaminants are highly soluble and not easily removed
by traditional treatment processes. With new reports of source
water detections expanding across the nation, PFAS is one of the
hottest topics in the industry today.
1:30
Breaking Down PFAS as an Emerging Contaminant

Finding New Ways of Doing Business at Utilities
1:30–4:30 p.m.
Room: Mile High Ballroom 1C
Track: Water Utility Management and Leadership
Moderator: Ryan Nagel
As the operating environment continues to change for utilities,
new ways of doing business are needed. These new ways of
doing business range from modifications to existing methods
like new budgeting approaches or changes to priorities. They
can also include more radical approaches such as outsourcing
functions or instituting wholly new services. This session will
explore several approaches that address new and
emerging challenges.
