2019 INSTRUCTOR-LED OPERATOR COURSES July 22–Aug. 23 Water Treatment Operator 1 Attendees will be introduced to water operations and learn the basic functions and responsibilities of Level 1 operators. Sept. 9–Oct. 11 Water Treatment Operator 2 This course introduces water operations perstonnel to various water treatment processes, their uses, characteristics, sizing, and calculations. Oct. 14–Nov. 15 Water Treatment Operator 3 Level 3 will cover various analyses and applications of key water treatment processes and operations. Sept. 16–Oct. 4 High-Tech Operator 1 Learn about SCADA systems in detail, including terms, drawing symbols and naming standards, sample diagrams, descriptions of components and features. Oct. 7–25 High-Tech Operator 2 Review the technologies available to track, monitor, and maintain equipment, and to represent, locate, and communicate with remote facilities and equipment. There will be a focus on CMMS, GIS, and GPS. High-Tech Operator 3 Participants will discuss and compare management systems, as well as applications available for collecting and managing performance data and methods available for storing information online securely. Oct. 28–Nov. 15 NEW SELF-PACED COURSES Water Compliance and Enforcement: EL252 Enforcement –including criminal prosecutions for violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act is here and likely accelerating. As high profi le events have focused the public’s attention on water safety, states have taken notice and begun to engage in a series of high profi le investigations into the water sector while EPA is quietly ramping up its own enforcement efforts. In response to this trend, “Water Compliance and Enforcement” was developed to provide operators and managers with the insights they need to carry out their duties and operate in compliance with these laws. Well informed operators and managers are the key to protecting the public they serve, and this course provides them both an understanding of the enforcement landscape and practical strategies to meet that goal in an era of increasing scrutiny.
