Moderator: Thomas Speth
WED30
Planning and Design of Water Treatment Facilities
1:30–4:30 p.m.
Room: Mile High Ballroom 3A
Track: Infrastructure Design and Project Delivery
Moderator: Joseph Stanley
Utilities that experience extended cold weather have issues
to address that other warmer weather utilities do not need to
consider. This session will cover issues that are unique to cold
water climates and their impact on drinking water treatment. Innovation is increasingly needed in the planning of water
treatment facilities. This grouping of presentations provides
good examples of such thinking in the planning stages of
a project.

Defining Sustainable Infrastructure for the
Water Industry
1:30–4:30 p.m.
Room: Mile High Ballroom 2C
Track: Infrastructure Design and Project Delivery
Moderator: Greg Baird
In water systems design, sustainability is not the same thing
as resiliency. With the increasing interest in sustainability, the
development of sustainability assessment tools such as Life
Cycle Assessments (LCA) analyzing the embodied energy and
environmental are readily available for utilities. This session
takes a look at what a utility should be using to determine
infrastructure sustainability.
