assurance applications. In end-of-line testing, highresolution cameras combined with powerful GPUbased processing boards now enable rapid and detailed inspection without compromising production throughput. These technological advancements allow manufacturers to uphold stringent quality standards while optimizing both efficiency and operational resilience.
Beyond the factory floor, vision systems are finding broader application in advanced fields such as drone navigation and security technologies, including facial recognition, highlighting their versatility and expanding role in today’ s intelligent systems landscape.
Ethernet network card via PCIe Gen 4, enabling connectivity to high-resolution LiDAR and radar systems. Additionally, a powerful FPGA module for broadband pre-processing can be integrated.
Stay tuned for Part 2 and Part 3, which will explore technical details, challenges, and additional industry use cases.
EKF Off-the-shelf CPCI Serial R3 Board
The new Revision 3.0 of the CompactPCI Serial standard, which supports PCIe Gen 4, doubles the data throughput between GPUs or FPGAs and the main processor, significantly enhancing vision system performance. Unlike other open standards that provide only four PCIe links between the system or switch slot and peripheral slots, CPCI-S offers eight PCIe links from the system slot to the first two peripheral slots. This effectively doubles the available bandwidth, making it especially attractive for highperformance, multi-GPU applications.
Use case for defense technologies
Products in the military sector must meet stringent standards and complex requirements to function reliably under extreme conditions. Commercial-Off- The-Shelf( COTS) solutions are becoming increasingly important compared to custom-designed products. Therefore, standard industrial products such as CompactPCI Serial must comply with these high environmental demands. In particular, the high computing power provided by CompactPCI Serial Revision 3.0 is essential to enable the highly complex, real-time, and deterministic fusion of all sensors and actuators.
As an alternative to the 19” standard systems, ruggedized systems omit the guide rail and front panel. Instead, with the slot width expanded to 5TE, they feature an impressive full-surface clamshell card retainer.
InVent SCHROFF Customizable CPCI Serial R3 Chassis
The increased mechanical rigidity introduced in Revision 2 continues in Revision 3.0, enabling operation under higher shock, vibration, and temperature conditions. While maintaining the same basic architecture as its predecessor, Revision 3.0 delivers significantly higher performance. For example, it supports integration of a 100 Gigabit
