UiTM Melaka at Global Stage
There are two main reasons. Firstly, a researcher works with the best
and reputable international scholars. Secondly, through the
collaboration of UiTM Melaka with industry practitioners, as a result of
the signing of a memorandum of understanding, the benefits of the
relationship directly offer new opportunities. Furthermore, through
strong ties with the state government, UiTM Melaka is capable to make
more solid move through projects that contribute to the people of
Melaka. Hence, a dynamic framework program needs to be worked out
for the smooth running of the university. UiTM Melaka academic staff
also needs to look into fundraising opportunities as well as engage with
the real world problems. This is important for solving nation and
international problems which can only be done through research. I really believe the growing science and technology agenda
is a real opportunity. Innovative products can be patented and commercialized for this purpose.
Relationship with alumni
Alumni, staff and students are the pillars of the university. Alumni have
a significant role in the development and success of a university. The
involvement of the university with the alumni is often carried out so
that they have a sense of belonging for their progressing university.
The UiTM Alumni of Melaka is considered as the best ambassador to
help the university achieve international recognition. They can help
attract the best students and staff to the university and ensure the
name of UiTM Melaka is spread across the globe.
Datuk, you have many years of experience in education and academ-
ics. How do you see the changes that have taken place in the higher
education sector?
First, the biggest change that I have seen based on my observation is
the dramatic transform of education landscape. We have students who
come from diverse socio-demographic backgrounds with very different
patterns of thinking especially from rural areas. For decades, we have
helped many students from underprivileged families to pursue higher
education. Second, there is a great demand for the quality of education
at the undergraduate and postgraduate level from all walks of life. They
do not mind paying money for higher education because what they are
looking for is knowledge. This is a big change. Third, modern
technology has entered the classroom. The technology that emerges
today has greatly influenced the way of teaching and learning. At the
moment, these changes are incredibly clear. Technology has had a
huge impact on education. This is a huge revolution in education. De-
spite the many changes that have taken place, the challenge of
producing a fine quality of human capital is always a priority so that we
could walk confidently towards industry revolution 4.0.
