Hurricane and Southside break sales record
Promoters FKP Scorpio PRK DreamHaus are celebrating after twin festivals Hurricane and Southside saw a record 62,000 tickets purchased in 24 hours for the 2027 editions. The sales success came on the back of this year’ s Hurricane and Southside being attended by 137,000 fans – with 78,000 guests at the sold-out 30th anniversary edition of Hurricane and 59,000 guests at Southside – meaning overall attendance was 16,000 higher than the previous year. Taking place over the same weekend, 19-21 June, the festivals shared a lineup that included Twenty One Pilots, Yungblud, Florence + The Machine, The Offspring and Papa Roach. FKP Scorpio CEO and head of festival booking Stephan Thanscheidt said,“ Being a successful festival for 30 years makes me and the entire team incredibly proud.”
THAILAND
Tomorrowland Thailand debut detailed
The promoter of celebrated electronic music festival Tomorrowland in Belgium has announced details of its first full-scale version of the event in Asia. The Thailand debut is set to take place on 11-13 December at the Khao Mai Kaew area in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The 237 acre site will see seven stages built to host a line-up of more than 100 performers including headliners Martin Garrix and Swedish House Mafia. The 50,000-capacity event will, according to its promoter, involve“ entirely new experiences designed exclusively for Thailand”.
SOUTH KOREA
Festivals and concerts cancelled amid protests
The promoters of festivals and concerts in South Korea were forced to take emergency action due to local election rerun protests that commenced on 5 June at Seoul ' s Olympic Park and led to widespread disruption. The unrest, sparked by ballot paper shortages during the South Korean local elections, is reported to have seen around 10,000 citizens gather at the SK Olympic Handball Stadium. The disruption led to several live events being impacted, including the Seoul Park Music Festival being relocated and concerts by singer Park Seojin cancelled.
