Fursman says changes to the Glastonbury set up this year included the video wings of the Pyramid Stage being widened and given a third leg so that larger screens could be hung , taller delay towers were also added . Over at the Other Stage additional delay towers were installed .
One of the biggest challenges this year , for Fursman and the team , was dealing with the industry-wide reduction in crew numbers . He says , “ We had to do a lot more between show movements with crew than we would normally . We usually have up to 50 people working on Glastonbury from two to three weeks before the show , but this year we had around 25 .”
During the pandemic Serious heavily increased its focus on working for the film industry . Fursman says film now accounts for around half of the business ’ workload but it remains involved in many of the UK ’ s festivals via its work with Festival Republic , BBC Radio 1 ’ s Big Weekend and Live Nation / SJM Concerts ’ Rewind Festival .
He says , “ We diversified the company and built film studios for most of the well-known film production companies , but we still retain our roots in festivals .”
