ACADEMY OF DIGITAL DOCTORS JOURNAL Practo’s online presence has positively impacted millions across the world. - Kshitij VP Products, Practo Experience is not the number of years you have sat in a chair, it is the number of problems you have solved. - Dr. Velumani Creator & MD, Thyrocare life story; a landless farmer’s son who walked barefoot to school; a young graduate who was turned away from over 50 job interviews because he did not have any prior work experience; a government employee who felt restless at work, made a spontaneous decision to quit his comfortable job, and became the kingpin of diagnostic testing. All the while he narrated his story, he never lost his lighthearted tone, glorifying the abject poverty he suffered and making light of the days of uncertainty. Mr. Kshitij Bhotika’s topic was ‘Building Cutting-Edge Products for Doctors’ and he spoke about how over the years, Practo has come to have a strong online presence that impacts numerous lives positively. He emphasised on the roles of each of the Practo products and how each of them are designed to improve patient experience and practice management for doctors. This was followed by the first panel discussion for the day which was on the topic of ‘Creating a Successful Telehealth Network’ and was participated in by (L to R) Mr. Vaneet Singla, Moderator; Ms. Seema Chandra, Editor, NDTV; Dr. Sidaarth Khera, Dermatolo- 10 gist; Dr. Vinod Mittal, Chairman, RSSDI Delhi; Dr. Raman Kumar, President, Association of Family Physicians of India; Dr. Velumani, Creator & MD, Thyrocare; Mr. Dhruv Gupta, Business Head, Consult, Practo. Telemedicine and its possible scope in India was the first topic of discussion and it was unanimously agreed on that the possibilities were endless. As Dr. Velumani pointed out, only about 1% of telemedicine is being used presently and within 10 years we could hope for it to increase to at least 25%. Telemedicine can bridge the gap between access, affordability, time-efficiency, and awareness. Some of the key roles of telemedicine is bridging the gap between access, affordability, time-efficiency, and awareness in the rural and urban areas regarding everything from diseases to treatments.
