Experience is not the
number of years you have
sat in a chair, it is the
number of problems you
have solved.
- Dr. Velumani
Creator & MD,
Thyrocare
life story; a landless farmer’s
son who walked barefoot to
school; a young graduate who
was turned away from over 50
job interviews because he did
not have any prior work experience; a government employee who felt restless at work,
made a spontaneous decision
to quit his comfortable job,
and became the kingpin of
diagnostic testing.
All the while he narrated his
story, he never lost his lighthearted tone, glorifying the
abject poverty he suffered and
making light of the days of
uncertainty.
Mr. Kshitij Bhotika’s topic was
‘Building Cutting-Edge Products for Doctors’ and he spoke
about how over the years,
Practo has come to have a
strong online presence that
impacts numerous lives positively.
He emphasised on the roles of
each of the Practo products
and how each of them are
designed to improve patient
experience and practice management for doctors.
This was followed by the first

Telemedicine and its possible
scope in India was the first
topic of discussion and it was
unanimously agreed on that
the possibilities were endless.
As Dr. Velumani pointed out,
only about 1% of telemedicine
is being used presently and
within 10 years we could hope
for it to increase to at least
25%.
Telemedicine can bridge the
gap between access, affordability, time-efficiency, and
awareness.
Some of the key roles of
telemedicine is bridging the
gap between access, affordability, time-efficiency, and awareness in the rural and urban
areas regarding everything
from diseases to treatments.
