Outdoor Education 10 is an off-campus excursion that provides students the opportunity to explore their passions and personalize their learning in the outdoors. Group activities include canoeing, kayaking, art in nature, hiking, camping skills, beachcombing, and archery. Students will have the opportunity to choose an outdoor stream focusing on activities that tey are interested in. Adhering to the philosophy of‘ challenge by choice’, students are empowered to choose to participate in the activities for a personalized level of engagement.

Student-led leadership workshops, outdoor instruction and experiential learning
Outdoor Education 11 is an off-campus excursion that provides students an opportunity to further their understanding of Indigenous Peoples’ relationship to land and traditional ecological knowledge through place based learning and outdoor activities. Through close collaboration with members of various Indigenous communities, students will be encouraged to be open-minded and take risks by stepping outside of their comfort zones, both physically and mentally. They will be required to learn how the Squamish Nation( Sk̲ wx̲ wú7mesh) lived and how they used their land around them
Additionally, one off-site trip days will safely introduce students to winter outdoor pursuits either participating in snowshoeing or crosscountry skiing. In addition, students engage in a traditional Indigenous longhouse program, and discover more about Indigenous history and Indigenous environmental practices and values.

Outdoor Education 12 is an off-campus excursion that provides students with an opportunity to celebrate the end of their Grade 12 year, spend quality time with their peers outside of Crofton House School, and reflect back on their experiences in Outdoor Education.
IVY COMPASS: FAQ
Are Ivy Days and Outdoor Education trips mandatory for students?
Yes, students are expected to attend both of their grade-wide Ivy Days and their annual Outdoor Education trip each year. These days are handson, experiential based learning opportunities, and therefore, are challenging for students to make up if missed.
What happens if my child misses an Ivy Day or an Outdoor Education trip?
If a student misses an Ivy Day due to a school related event or they are absent due to illness, the student must meet with the Ivy Compass Coordinator to review what they have missed and
