OUTDOOR EDUCATION PROGRAM
Outdoor Education is an integral part of our students’ learning and development. As per our mission statement, Outdoor Education enriches the learning of our students to foster selfconfidence, resilience, and creativity to enable each student to reach their unique potential. Outdoor pursuits, for many, are lifelong activities which promote physical, social, and emotional well-being. Outdoor Education trips provide opportunities for cross-curricular integration, teamwork and collaboration, leadership development, community building, and authentic connection to the natural world. Upon graduation, the Ivy Compass student will have been exposed to a range of outdoor activities and skills, and will be knowledgeable about local and global environmental challenges and sustainability. The goal is for students to develop the skills that will enable them to become leaders in addressing these issues and in the stewardship of our planet. Through the Outdoor Education program students will develop an appreciation of nature and build a deeper connection to the history of the land we live, study, work, and play on.
