Classroom-based, using a variety of instructional strategies
Ivy Compass 8 is taken by all Grade 8 students. The Ivy Compass 8 curriculum is facilitated through Ivy days, where students are taken out of their regularly scheduled classes and immersed in experiential activities as a grade. Through a variety of learning methods, students will explore the major themes of community building, leadership, Indigenous education, and school service. Workshops, initiatives, and activities aim to further students’ critical thinking and ethical decision-making skills within the context of the four compass quadrants: new horizons, environmental education, service learning, and world citizenship. Education will focus on selfawareness, resilience, inclusion, and connectedness, with the intention of graduating inspired leaders and agents of change. Students will document and reflect on these experiences in their Ivy Compass Journal.

Education will focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion with the intention of graduating inspired leaders and agents of change. Students will document and reflect on these experiences in their Ivy Compass Journal.

Through a variety of learning methods, students will explore the major themes of sexual orientation and gender identity, the rights of women and girls across the globe, and service. Workshops, initiatives, and activities aim to further students’ critical thinking and ethical decision-making skills within the context of the four compass quadrants: new horizons, environmental education, service learning, and world citizenship. Students will continue to build on developing the skills and attributes to be inspired leaders and socially responsible agents of change. Students will document and reflect on these experiences in their Ivy Compass Journal.
