Responsibilities of Students, Parents / Guardians and Post-Secondary Counsellors in the Graduation and Post-Secondary Process
Crofton House aims to provide students with guidance that arises from current knowledge and extensive experience. Clear and accurate communication is at the heart of skillfully navigating the various stages of the transition from secondary to post-secondary learning. What follows is the breakdown of responsibilities in order to ensure there is understanding of the full process and the distinct role of students, parents / guardians and the Post-Secondary Counsellors.
A: GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Meeting graduation course requirements for a BC Graduation Diploma( Dogwood) Students

Post-Secondary Counsellors
□ Enrol in all courses as required to fulfill the requirements of the BC Graduation Program.
□ Credit check using the“ Graduation Program Credit Verification Form” form at the start of each year, Grade 10 to 12
□ Understand the requirements to graduate in British Columbia
□ Be familiar with the credit check tracking sheet to track their daughter’ s progress toward completion.
□ Be available for students with questions on required courses.
□ Ensure each student completes a credit check each year.
□ Collect and review student credit check documents to ensure students are on track to graduate.

Post-Secondary Counsellors
□ Complete the Grade 10 Literacy Assessment
□ Complete the Grade 10 Numeracy Assessment
□ Complete the Grade 12 Literacy Assessment
□ If interested, become familiar with the content and format of the graduation assessments through the Ministry of Education website.
Note: Post-Secondary Counsellors have no responsibility for graduation assessments. The school’ s administration has responsibility for this element including scheduling assessments, offering preparation sessions, and advertising rewrite opportunities. Students are prepared for these assessments through regular classroom instruction.

□ Be up-to-date on current course requirements for all programs of interest.
□ Contact post-secondary admission offices for information not available through general institutional websites.
□ Enrol in required courses
□ Be aware of programs students are currently researching and pursuing.
□ Be knowledgeable and up-to-date on current course requirements of programs that are of common or of general interest to Crofton House School students
□ Provide students with support, as required, in navigating post-secondary websites to identify course requirements for admission.
□ Contact post-secondary institutions when required to clarify information or ensure understanding.
