Students will demonstrate their understanding of different standards through a variety of assessments. They will be given multiple opportunities to show progress for each standard.
CHEMISTRY 12
Prerequisite Chemistry 11
AP Biology is a modern molecular course designed to provide the major concepts applicable to all branches of biology. Students in this course will develop an understanding of the process of evolution, and how biological systems utilize free energy and molecular building blocks to grow, to reproduce, and to maintain dynamic homeostasis. They will also learn about how living systems store, retrieve, transmit, and respond to information essential to life processes. They will continue to improve skills in problemsolving, statistical analysis, and inquiry-based learning. Assessment includes tests, lab reports, and assignments. Based on availability, a mandatory excursion trip to the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre will be held in the spring of 2026.

Chemistry 12 students will further refine competencies in communication, critical thinking, and personal and social awareness as they engage in the scientific process, experimental design, and laboratory skill acquisition. Students will study reaction kinetics, equilibrium, solubility, acid-base chemistry, and oxidation-reduction. Students will communicate their understanding through a variety of assessments that may include quizzes, tests, laboratory reports, projects and assignments.
