Delivery Method
Classroom-based, using a variety of inquiry-based strategies
Throughout the Science 8 course, students will develop their science competencies as they engage in inquiry-based learning. Students will develop these competencies through the lens of“ A Sense of Place” applied to the following concepts: life processes take place at the cellular level, the behaviour of matter can be explained using the atomic theory and the kinetic molecular theory, energy is both a particle and a wave, and the theory of plate tectonics can be used to explain geological processes.

Classroom-based, using a variety of inquiry-based strategies
Throughout the Science 9 course, students will further develop their science competencies as they engage in inquiry-based learning. Students will develop these competencies through the lens of sustainability applied to the following concepts: cells arise from other cells; the electron arrangement of atoms impacts chemical behaviour; electric current is the flow of electric charge; and how human activity affects natural resources and its impact on climate change.
Science 10 students will further develop their science competencies as they engage in inquirybased learning. The students will develop these competencies through the lens of“ A Sense of Place” applied to the following concepts:: genes are the foundations for the diversity of living things; chemical processes require energy as atoms are rearranged; energy is conserved and its transformation can affect living things and the environment; the formation of the universe can be explained using the Big Bang theory.

Classroom-based, using a variety of inquiry-based strategies
Throughout the Anatomy and Physiology 12 course, students will further develop communication, analytical and evaluation skills as they engage in the scientific process. Students will study cell and human physiology and their application to human disease. Students will demonstrate their understanding of different standards through a variety of assessments. They will be given multiple opportunities to show progress for each standard.
