Spanish 8 introduces beginner learners to basic Spanish through real-life themes, cultural celebrations, and virtual exchanges with Mexico. Students explore identity, family, school life, friendships, music, dance, and future goals while developing foundational communication skills. No prior knowledge, placement test, or teacher recommendation is required.

Spanish 8 Enriched is designed for students who already have a foundation in Spanish and are ready to deepen their skills beyond the regular Spanish 8 sequence. Through real-life themes, cultural celebrations, and virtual exchanges with Mexico, students strengthen their ability to communicate with increasing detail and accuracy. Placement is determined in the spring or early fall through the teacher’ s recommendation, in consultation with the Department Head, and is guided by the course prerequisites. Assessments are the same as the Spanish 8 level.
Spanish 9( 8 Accelerated) is intended for students who already have prior knowledge of Spanish and are prepared to advance their skills to a greater level of complexity. Students expand their communication skills through real-life themes, cultural celebrations, and virtual exchanges with Mexico, applying language to daily life, school, family, food, navigating the community, shopping, and planning social events. Placement is verified through a spring placement test.
