While you ’ re running the Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K , you can make a difference in the lives of others by supporting one of the event ’ s two official charities .
The organisers of South Africa ’ s award-winning road running series , the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series are excited to welcome Reach For A Dream Gqeberha and Garden Region and the Animal Anti-Cruelty League Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha as the official charities of the inaugural Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K that will take place on Sunday 2 April .
“ Since the inception of the first event in Cape Town in 2015 , charity support has always been an important element of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series ,” says Michael Meyer , Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series . “ We are extremely excited to celebrate the Series ’ debut in Gqeberha in April , and we are proud to be able to support two local charities that do fantastic work in the community . We invite runners and walkers to join in on the fun , # RunYourCity , and help make a difference .”
Reach For A Dream Gqeberha and Garden Region
Established in 1988 , Reach For A Dream seeks to inspire hope and help children to believe in the power of dreams . “ It is an honour to be included in Gqeberha ’ s first Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series race ,” says Reach For A Dream Foundation Spokesperson , Michelle van Huyssteen . “ Reach For A Dream celebrates its 35th birthday this year and we are excited that we will be able to inspire more children that are fighting life-threatening illnesses , on their journeys of hope , by fulfilling their dreams with the proceeds received from runners participating in the event .”

When taking on the 10km run , remember the incredible bravery of children facing lifethreatening illnesses . Animal Anti-Cruelty League Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha ( AACL )
The AACL Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha provides assistance to indigent communities , including informal settlements , residing in the northern areas of Nelson Mandela Bay . The AACL ’ s presence , and the assistance they provide on a daily basis , has brought both relief and upliftment to these communities and their pets .
“ It is such an honour to be chosen as an official charity of the inaugural Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K . It is a gift of gold to be offered this incredible opportunity to raise funds ,” says Linda-Louise Swain , the AACL Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha PR & Outreach Coordinator . “ Our message to runners is that the goalpost is yours for the winning !
