I
am delighted to welcome the runners, the organisers and the supporters of the 2025 ABSA RUN YOUR CITY 10K race to Cape Town. Launched ten years ago, the Cape Town leg of the ABSA Run Your City series quickly became one of the most popular and eagerly anticipated running events in our city’ s busy calendar.
It’ s not hard to see why, either. With its flat, fast route, it is a runner’ s dream, made even
From the Host more special by the constant backdrop of iconic Cape Town landmarks. It’ s also one of the most
City … entertaining running events from a supporter’ s point of view, with music groups and other performing arts entertainers along the way.
The race is colourful, vibrant and energetic – a perfect representation of Cape Town itself – and it is no surprise that it has become such a bucket list event for runners in our city. It is also a race that does wonderful fundraising work, and the money they will raise and donate to the Cancer Association of South Africa from this year’ s race will no doubt be put to very good use.
I look forward to seeing all the runners take on this exciting route on 11 May, as well as seeing Capetonians lining the streets in big numbers to cheer them on. To everyone participating, may you have an enjoyable and safe run, and to those who will be visiting us, a lovely stay in the Mother City.
Geordin Hill-Lewis
Cape Town Mayor
I
would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the Provincial Sports Ministers, Presidents of the various provincial athletics federations, and the local, national and international athletes who will be competing in the Cape Town leg of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series.
On behalf of Western Province Athletics and the Board, I wish all the participating athletes the very best, and may you achieve
From the Host your personal bests. The route is fast and flat, making it one of the most popular
Province … and supported events to be hosted in the Mother City, but even though you may be surrounded by thousands of fellow athletes, your true competition is with yourself. Push your limits, enjoy the journey, and savour the achievement. Also, your involvement in the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series, along with the contributions of the sponsors and organisers, brings joy and hope to the charities that benefit from this incredible event.
A heartfelt thank you to our event hosts, Stillwater Sports, for your impeccable organisation and dedication, and to our partners, including the City of Cape Town, and valued sponsors, your continued support makes world-class events like this possible. Events of this nature not only inspire thousands, but also contribute meaningfully to the growth and visibility of athletics as a sport across the country. With such energy and commitment from all stakeholders, the future of athletics is indeed bright.

President of Western Province Athletics
Welcome to the 10th running of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K. This edition of the race has already set a new record, with 15,000 runners lining up, making it the biggest race in the event’ s history!
The 2025 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series kicked off in Gqeberha a month ago with another record field and the fastest 10K

Wildscutt set a new SA Record. Now it’ s your turn, Cape Town, and we can’ t wait to see you line up at Woodbridge Island on Sunday morning! Thank you to each and every runner for supporting this event, which has become a country-wide movement encouraging everyone to be active and lead a heathy lifestyle.
We also welcome some of the fastest athletes in the world to the start line of the fast and flat Cape Town course. For most of us, however, it’ s about fun, camaraderie, dressing up, and getting your friends and family to join you for the most fun you can have whilst getting some exercise.
As always, we thank our anchor sponsors, Absa, PUMA, Chery, Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages and Castle Lite, and we encourage all our participants to support the brands and businesses that support our love of running. Also, a massive word of thanks to the City of Cape Town for hosting the event. Together, we look forward to creating world class, unique and invigorating running experiences for thousands of runners across South Africa, for many years to come.
