PROJECT UPDATES - ZAMBIA New head office for First Capital Bank in Lusaka By Heinrich Malan Having completed the new First Capital Bank (FCB) head office in Gaborone during the final quarter of 2018 the management from FCB decided to push ahead with the pre-contract phase for their new head office in Lusaka, Zambia. FCB has secured a very prominent site on the busy Church Road in close proximity to the Central Business District, just opposite their current head office. The building features will be very similar to their Gaborone building and the plan is to also achieve the first ‘green building’ rated development in Zambia, as achieved in Botswana. There will be two buildings on the site of just under 2 000m² each and the site will have a basement over the whole property. FCB will occupy one of the buildings and the other will be available for rental. Time Projects, Paul Munnik Architects and MLC Quantity Surveyors have been appointed to proceed with this new development. The electrical designs are being done by RM Consulting Engineers while the Mechanical and Environmental Project Brief is being prepared by DH Engineering Consultants. Prime retail space at Kabwata Shopping Mall in Lusaka By Heinrich Malan Kabwata Mall is really starting to take shape now and the external blockwork, excluding boundary walls are complete. The structural steel work is also complete and contractors are busy with the final paint on Shoprite’s structural steel. The line shops’ floors and the concrete floor in Shoprite are complete and internal walls are nearly finished. Plastering of internal walls will be complete mid-September. Time Projects and ZICA set to develop a contemporary office park development By Heinrich Malan Location, location, location! This is the best description for this new development. Could this be the new CBD for Lusaka? It just might be because loads of office space is popping up and big organisations are starting to move here. Time Projects has signed a joint venture agreement with the Zambian Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) for this development. Pre-leasing is now open and interested parties can get in touch with [email protected] for more information. The idea is to develop a full basement over the whole site and one building of 5 000m² - 6 000m² and another two of 2 500m² - 3 500m² each. Smaller users of up to a 100m² can be accommodated.
