The virtual reality aspect of the production allows viewers to interact with the Shinola space and staff while also taking in a bit of the company’s history. The producers of the short (Reel FX) utilized the new-to-market Nokia OZO camera, touted as the first VR camera purpose-built for professionals, making use of the real-time HMD monitoring to streamline camera placement and shot composition and make the most of their on-set time. The behind-the-scenes video, which features the original track “Detroit Seal” by Pato Motown, takes a closer look into this process. “In 2012 we built a watch factory in Detroit and called it our home. The city and the people who assemble our products are at the core of everything we do. This film allows those who cannot make a trip to Detroit to take a peek into why we chose Detroit and what drives us every day, “ said Shinola’s Bridget Russo. “The combination of Luke’s sharp humor and this new technology was the perfect match to express the brand in a way that is both fun and informative.” NBA AND TISSOT UNVEIL NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART SHOT CLOCK AND INTEGRATED TIMING SYSTEM New Shot Clock Will Be Used at All 29 NBA Arenas During the 2016-17 Season The NBA and Tissot in July launched a new integrated timing system and a new shot clock with innovative LED glass technology developed exclusively for the league. The new shot clock will be integrated into all NBA arenas for the 2016-17 season. The use of the shot clock and timing system marks the first time the league will use the same clocks and timing equipment across all twenty-nine of its arenas. The clean, sleek clock is visibly free of cables and conductors and is equipped with Tissot LED glass, making the clock nearly transparent when in use and fully transparent while turned off. It integrates the 24-second, timeout, and game clocks in one piece of hardware – a first for the league. Transitions between numbers are instant and undetectable even by high-speed TV cameras, resulting in definitive footage that will further assist NBA referees and the NBA Replay Center in evaluating certain critical calls. The new system simultaneously transmits exact timing data to all in-arena scoreboards and video equipment, letting fans follow the action within fractions of a second. Clock and scoreboard operators in all arenas will control the system with Tissot’s proprietary software, which offers an intuitive and uniform interface. Each shot clock will feature Tissot branding, another sign of the company’s increasing presence at NBA games. 30 | AboutTime Magazine
