On May 1, 2003, immigrant workers observed May Day with a Capitol Hill rally to demand that Congress grant legal residency to 8.5 million undocumented workers by passing the FREEDOM Act.
Members of the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC), the Laborers International Union, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and other worker groups from across the nation affiliated with the National Coalition for Dignity & Amnesty for Undocumented Immigrants (NCDAUI) traveled to the capital by bus to rally support.
Now more than 20 years later, we must support the FREEDOM Act in order to finally address the issues of Family Reunification, Economic Expansion & the Documented and Organized Management of immigrants entering the United States. It encompasses a legalization of the undocumented immigrants present in the United States & a reform of the present broken immigration system which forces many to enter at the border.
