AAFS Annual Report 2018 - 2019 | Page 19

My work history has included being a chip inspector/packer (a story for another day), field worker, library assistant, server, babysitter, cleaner, and more. But I do not think I have had a more rewarding job than that of raising funds for a non-profit.

I have had the honour to be with AAFS for the past five (5) years. I began working 6 hours a week and now it is 40+. I have gone from just writing grants to also doing invoicing, developing a relationship with FSCD and clearing up unpaid invoices. Making sure we have a steady flow of money!

I am always humbled by the commitment and passion of not just the leadership team but all the social experience guides. The development and growth I see in our members is a tribute to this commitment.

Ensuring there is funding available for all the amazing programs & activities AAFS provides is a challenge. I like to see them as not roadblocks but challenges to be met and overcome. Creating letters asking for funding and thinking up new and exciting ways of engaging donors is an adventure!

And the adventure continues ...
