After going through emails I start working on programs currently running. Though not all of them are coordinated by me, depending on the month we can have from 8 to 13 Spec-Progs running in a week. When I started we might have run 3 or 4 a week.
After those emails I start to work on upcoming programs. This can range from old standards to new ‘pilot’ programs. Calls and emails to community partners about venues, facilitators and forats ensue. These can range from where we might run a program to whom we can recruit to get involved to when we can start and how long the program will run. Along with this we begin to look at what equipment we need etc etc.
Now that we are at over 1000 family members with AAFS also spend a chink of the day making sure members involved in a program are getting everything they had hoped out of a program. This means followup calls, reading reports and making sure we stay "AAFSie” and true to our Missions, Values and Philosophies.
Every once in a while I will sneak off at night or on an afternoon to take part in a program and share in some laughs and fun. My days and schedule are anything but typical and typically wonderful. The more things change the more they stay the same (or something like that) and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have a career and not a job and am blessed daily to be part of this place. Best life I’ve ever had.
