AAFS Annual Report 2018 - 2019 | Página 14

A Day in the Life of Scott Godfrey

I have been around AAFS for almost ten years now. On a Thursday night in 2010 I walked into the glorious whirlwind that was Clubhouse night. I had just started working as direct support for a guy and his cousin told me to check out this place with the longest name in the world!

My “client” became one of my closest friends, I became a volunteer, then in 2014 pitched some sport and movement based programs to Dean. 2015 I was hired as an SEG. In 2016 I stumbled into an opportunity to oversee Camping. Things kind of unraveled from there and here I am, Program Coordinator, Specialized Programs.

I still work with the guy who I brought to Clubhouse Night and yes...he still comes every Thursday we have Clubhouse Nights though my days have changed a bit.

My office days start off answering emails but not until after I have said Hello to VAULT folks, been updated on their amazing day, received several fist bumps and a couple of hugs and boinks with growls. We have a wonderful Lead Team who are usually in before me (my early mornings are spent with my buddy so I am rarely the first one in) so more catch ups are in order.

Along with emails come a multitude of cool and varied requests from people asking to volunteer and do practicums (my role has kind of evolved into overseeing practicum intake and coordination). We access the skills of over 30 students a year who bring with them almost 3000 hours of support and skills to AAFS. There was a time when we had to go looking for practicum students to get involved with AAFS!
