GABRIELA is an alliance of Filipino women established in 1984 that has been on the forefront of advocating and fighting for women ’ s rights and welfare . It envisions a society wherein women are free from all forms of discrimination and oppression . The funds are specifically for the project “ WE RISE – Women ’ s Empowerment through Rising Initiatives for Society and Environment ,” which aims to further develop and level-up women and community responses and initiatives to meet the changes and challenges brought about by the pandemic and crisis . “ WE RISE ” is designed to continue maximizing the rising initiatives of women and communities . The additional component for this new action is to organize skilled and talented young women and adults to be trained as folk educators on the issue of VAW through performing arts and cultural work .
LA MUJER OBRERA is serves the Chamizal neighborhood and advocates on issues related to the impact of globalization on the economic and social human rights of Mexican immigrant women and their families on the U . S ./ Mexican border . Their mission is to develop and use their creative capacity to express the dignity and diversity of their Mexican heritage , from indigenous Mesoamerican roots to contemporary expressions , and to develop and celebrate their community through economic development , community building , community health and civic engagement . La Mujer Obrera runs multiple social enterprises : Rayito del Sol Daycare , Cafe Mayapan restaurant , and Lummetik Trading Co ., and the Tierra es Vida community farm .
